Profile Settings Troubleshooting
This guide provides troubleshooting steps when profile-based device settings in Android Edge do not apply as expected. It covers issues with configuring options such as Display Orientation, 24-hour format, Device Brightness, and Screen Timeout.
1. Settings Not Applying Correctly
Problem: Settings profile not working as expected.
You are attempting to configure your device settings via a Profile in the Settings tab, but certain options (e.g., Display Orientation, Enable 24-hour format, Device Brightness, or Screen Timeout) are not applying correctly.
- Check if the Springmatic Core Agent has been granted all required permissions, including Modify System Settings.
- Confirm that the target device is running Android 9.0 or above, since these features are not supported on older versions.
Remote Debugging
If all else fails and the issue persists, please contact your Springdel personnel. They will arrange a remote debugging session for your device.
Before the session, please prepare the following:
- Set up AnyDesk on the remote debugging laptop.
- Download Vysor on the remote debugging laptop.
- Connect the target device to the laptop:
- Ensure Developer Options and USB Debugging are turned on.
- Turn on Vysor on the laptop.
- Prepare the ADB Package on the laptop, or ensure the Springdel Edge Tool is installed.
Best Practices & Tips
- Verify Permissions: Always ensure the Springmatic Core Agent has the correct system-level permissions before applying settings.
- Target Compatible Devices: Apply these features only to devices running Android 9.0 and above.
- Test Before Deployment: Validate profiles on a staging device to confirm that all settings are applied as intended.
- Monitor Logs: Use device logs to confirm whether the settings commands were pushed and applied.
