Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Springdel account. When 2FA is enabled, you'll log in with your password plus a verification code from your mobile authenticator app.

Key Benefits

  • Prevents Unauthorized Access – Even if your password is stolen, 2FA keeps your account secure.
  • Backup Codes for Recovery – Regain access even if your phone or app is lost.
  • Flexible App Support – Works with popular authenticator apps like Google Authenticator, Authy, and more.

Step 1 - How to Enable 2FA

  1. Log in to your Springdel console.
  2. Click on Settings located in the bottom-left corner of the dashboard.
  3. In the Settings page, select the Preferences tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Two-Factor Authentication section.
  5. Click the toggle to Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  6. A window will appear with a QR code:
    • Open your authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy).
    • Scan the displayed QR code or manually enter the provided code.
    • Your app will now show a 6-digit verification code.
  7. Enter this verification code in the provided field and click Verify.
  8. Once verified, you'll see backup codes. These codes help you log in if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Step 2 - Logging in with 2FA

When you log in next time:

  1. Enter your username and password as usual.
  2. You'll be prompted to enter the 6-digit authentication code from your authenticator app.
  3. Optionally, select "Remember this device for 7 days" to reduce frequent verification on trusted devices.
  4. If you can't access your authenticator app, click "Don't have an authenticator device?" and use a backup code instead

Step 3 - Using Backup Codes

If you're unable to access your authenticator app:

  1. Select "Don't have an authenticator device?" at the login prompt.
  2. Enter one of your saved backup codes and click Verify.

Step 4 - Regenerating Backup Codes

If you lose your backup codes or want new ones:

  1. Go to Settings > Preferences.
  2. Under Two-Factor Authentication, click Regenerate Backup Codes.
  3. Save your new backup codes securely.
  4. Now, every time you log in, you'll enter your password plus a unique code from your authenticator app, making your account safer.

Best Practices & Tips

  • Use a Trusted Authenticator App: Choose reliable apps such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator for better security.
  • Secure Your Backup Codes: Store backup codes in a safe, offline location (e.g., encrypted password manager or printed copy in a secure place).
  • Regenerate Backup Codes After Use: If you use a backup code or suspect it’s exposed, generate a fresh set immediately.
  • Update 2FA When Changing Devices: If you get a new phone, transfer your authenticator account before resetting or disposing of your old device.
  • Test Before Relying on 2FA: After enabling, log out and back in to confirm your setup works properly.
